MENTORS WANTED
To be a Forward Mentor, you commit your presence, your purse, and your people for at least two years with another co-mentor.
Presence: two lunches a month at the school with the students and summer excursion/connections.
Purse: raise or donate at least $1,000 per year to support student scholarships.
People: your network is strong. Our network is stronger together. These students need who you know almost as much as they need you.
Why co-mentors? Why two lunches a month? Why are you asking for my money?! Many public school mentoring programs pair an adult with a student who sign up for a one-on-one meeting after school. They often don’t last more than a year.
We want to change that.
Forward sends out two adult mentors to work as a team to meet with students during school lunch with free food, in a small group of ~4 students (cohorts), with fun (games) and engaging content (flexible social and emotional curriculum). You’re helping them work on themselves, and you’ll find yourself grow with them.
You don’t go at it alone. You partner with a co-mentor who has your back if you need to miss a week. Divide the tasks and encourage the students together - you've got this.
If you’re interested in learning more, see our application above or contact daniel@forwardmentoring.org with any additional questions.
